Site Redesign

Site redesign

Site redesign We are proud to announce a new website design for ImprovEverywhere.com. With all of the traffic and press we have been getting lately, it was time to spice things up around here. We’d like to personally thank our designer Ken Newell for his hard work on this new site. Ken charged us only $4,000 for his design (which is half of his normal rate.)

Things are going to be “under construction” around here for the next couple of days as we work out the kinks and give the tires a kick or two. Bear with us. In the meantime, we’d love to hear your feedback on our new look. Leave us a comment below.

UPDATE - As of April 2, 2008 we are no longer using this new design. It ended up only working for us on April 1. If you missed it, here’s a screen shot of the redesign. And below you can see some of the super cool animated gifs and icons our redesign featured.

Food Court Musical - Music and Lyrics

I'm the janitor!

We’ve had several requests over the past few weeks for the music and lyrics of our Food Court Musical. We’ve just uploaded a “zip” file with an mp3 of the orchestrated backing track we used in the food court, an mp3 of the song played on piano, and a PDF of the complete lyrics to the song. This should be everything you need to stage the song on your own. Unfortunately no sheet music exists.

Download the zip file

“Can I Get a Napkin (Please?)” is by Scott Brown and Anthony King. The song was arranged by Jamie Laboz.

Global Roundup: Boston, Philly, and Greece

IE Global

There are a few new global missions to report from groups organized on our IE Global site:

In the meantime the global freeze phenomenon continues. New freezes have taken place in Barcelona, Paris, Shanghai, and Prague. We’ve been keeping a comprehensive list of all of the freeze missions. The current count is 40 events in 22 different countries.

We’ve also received a bit of recent press. We were featured on German television, Al Jazeera English, and PRI’s Fair Game.

Food Court Musical

For our latest mission, 16 agents staged a spontaneous musical in the food court of a Los Angeles shopping mall. We used wireless microphones to amplify the vocal performances and mix them together with the music through the mall’s PA system. We filmed the mission with hidden cameras, mostly behind two-way mirrors. Apart from our performers, no one in the food court was aware of what was happening. Enjoy the video first and then go behind the scenes with our report below.

Global Roundup: New Stuff from Singapore and San Diego

IE Global

A few new missions to report from our IE Global site. The first is from Scene Diego, the local IE Global group out in San Diego, CA. They got 7 agents to infiltrate a Starbucks and then fall asleep.

The IE Global group in Singapore also staged a “sleeping in public” mission, getting a dozen or so agents to fall asleep by a public fountain.

Finally, one more from Scene Diego, 70 agents use a “banana phone” in a San Diego mall.

Thanks to Global Agent J.A. Riley from Atlanta for designing the new Improv Everywhere Global graphic, seen above.
