No Pants 2009 in New York View on YouTube | Subscribe to our channel
As in years past, there are No Pants Subway Rides happening in cities around the world on January 9, the same day as our annual event in New York. If your town has a subway system or some form of mass transportation (bus? trolley?), then get involved and organize your own ride by creating a Facebook event and posting a link to it in the comments below. Your ride’s leader will also need to email us to confirm the details so we can list it on this page.
Here are all of the cities that currently have rides being organized for this year, 50 cities in 24 countries:
– Adelaide
– Amsterdam
– Antwerp
– Atlanta
– Barcelona

If you participate in a regional ride and use twitter, tag your posts with #NPSR and @improvevery so everyone can follow along with other cities throughout the day.
We will be updating this page with links to any new cities. Leave any corrections or additions in the comments.
The link to the Minneapolis Page is broken. Think you can fix it?
Fixed. See new link above.
The link for Zurich leads nowhere … Any news on that site? (It’s my town, that’s why I’m curious)
Zurich is fixed. We had the event set to private while we were setting things up. Sorry for any confusion.
Several of the Facebook links do appear to be broken, leading to “Page Not Found” errors. I’m not sure what the deal is, but I’ve asked the leaders of the regional events to look into it. Keep checking back here. I’m sure we’ll get it all sorted out soon.
All of these but 2 have been fixed. Waiting to hear from Chicago and Vancouver. Apparently any event created as part of a “group” wasn’t visible to anyone not in the group, even if the creator made it “public.” Dumb!
The link to Seattle doesn’t work, either.
This has been fixed.
Just letting you know that the link to Los Angeles doesn’t work, either.
Fixed. Now linking to Yelp.
Yelp just says 12:00PM LA Metro Where is the specific metting point, or do we just randomly get on the train without pants and ride it to Union Station?
The Yelp link is now the rather detailed dossier. Read it carefully. It’s got lots of helpful tips and details. See you Sunday and tell your friends!
I’m organising the London one this year. Just wanted to comment and say I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that picture of me from last year on here. Um, thanks?
Great photo!
Broken links for the following cities:
Zurich
Toulouse
Seattle
Minneapolis
Los Angeles
Chicago
Calgary
Buenos Aires
Atlanta
Please fix.
I have no clue why these cities are all having an issue with their Facebook links. If anyone has information for these cities and can post it on a non-Facebook site, leave the link in the comments here and I’ll add it to the page.
Plan B MN here… Our Minneapolis event is set to Public for everyone to view. I confirmed it won’t work for me by clicking the link unless I am signed into Facebook. Tried on three different computers to verify.
You are welcome to click the following link to see our “Group” page in Facebook, and then join the event from there. It should work while we try to resolve our Facebook event page issues.

Interesting! I joined the group and then was able to see the event. So even though your event was set to public it was still only visible for group members. This must be the common thread with the cities who had an issue with Facebook. Anyone who created their event out of a group must have had this problem. Strange. I added the link to the group to the page. Send me a link to a listing on your site/blog/forum if you want a more direct working link.
Charlie..

That is just a quick and dirty HTML I drew up..
People can join up, and everything works fine once they do. Odd.
Calgary, Alberta, Canada

It appears you have to be logged into Facebook to see the Facebook events.
ojala y algun dia realizen algo por el estilo pero en la ciudad de guadalajara, JAL. mexico
creo que muchas personas pasticiparian :)
translation:
Hopefully, someday someone in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico would organize something like this. I think a lot of people would participate.
Hi Charlie, could you update the link for Amsterdam to http://www.shoqs.nl/details-broekloze-metrorit-2011/ ? The page displayed now is the “Save the date”!
Thanks and best of luck,
Andries
Done. Have a great ride!
The links to cities are NOT broken. You must be signed into Facebook for them to work.
Patrick, nope, they’re definitely broken. I’m signed into Facebook and can’t see a thing on the ones that have been reported as broken – maybe they’re set as private events instead of public ones.
Yeah, I’m logged into Facebook and can’t see the list of cities someone posted above. They are cut and paste correctly from the organizers. It’s either a private/public thing or Facebook is just being really random and screwy. I’m on a Mac and have tried in Firefox and Safari both logged in and logged out.
Apparently Montreal is onboard. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=108852849186919
Added.
Johannesburg – South Africa is on board
Awesome! I added it. BTW we are visiting Capetown in February and doing an Mp3 Experiment at Design Indaba.
Excellent, I’ll try and get down there for that, saw the videos online.
I added Brisbane. For those keeping score, that’s four rides in Australia!
Can you advise link for Los Angeles – I cant get through via this page
If you are able to be in touch with the regional organisers, maybe you can provide info on where to join the group to gain access if it’s a private FB invite? I’d like to follow/join the Minneapolis cause! :)
Plan B MN is organizing the Minneapolis event. Our Facebook event is set to “Public”, and works when I am signed into Facebook.
I am unsure why the link does not work “outside” for people…
You can toss me an email at “synssins at gmail dot com” for information on the event.
Meanwhile, we are working to get our link fixed for everyone.
Chris– best to just put it on your own site if you can. No one can figure out the Facebook issue in any of the cities that have it. Public/private doesn’t appear to matter. And I couldn’t even see the event when Scott directly invited me on Facebook!
Charlie…
Thanks, it appears to be a FB issue…
Here is our updated link…

Is Edmonton not doing it this year???
If you don’t organize it, probably not.
I was just about to start an emergency No Pants event, but a little search on Facebook came up with an event. It’s not listed, but it’s being organized.
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=158280200886651&ref=mf
Cool. I added it. They should have told me.
I was really hoping Charlotte was going to be active.
Then organize it.
Subways in Charlotte?!?
Hi Charlie, I’d love to organize the event in Milano, but I guess it’s a bit late… Any hint/clue on how to start? Is there any TO-DO list or something? Thanks! :)
There’s no to-do list– just look at our past rides and copy our template and our instructions for NY. Let me know if you organize one. We need Italy on board!
I’m trying hard to do this! There’s very little time but I hope to succeed :) what about pics/videos? do you have Agents which do keep their pants on while shooting?
Yes.
Hey and whats with Berlin. You choose Zürich, but not Berlin. This is weird…
There’s no ride in Berlin because no one has organized it. No one includes you!
No Berlin? Feel free to ride with us here in Hamburg! :-)
the FB link for Seattle is non-existent, can anyone confirm if this is just a technical error or if there is not one organized yet?
Hey can anyone get me the info for Chicago? The link is not working.
Greetings IE. For the second time, we will be hosting the Vancouver event. Please refer/link to: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=161532440557089
I also tried sending a message through your contact us form but it won’t allow. Please let me know if you require anything else to post Vancouver as a participating city.
Any word on Chicago yet?
Any new info on Chicago yet? A large group of us are looking for more info on the meeting place? If there is not an organizer we could do so, just need to know what is up.
I’m waiting for the organizer to write me back and post the details somewhere other than Facebook. He’s organized the last few in Chicago. It will happen.
would love to see a running count of those attending (as per FB) , Im curious which city will get the most FB committed attendees
Madrid is on the movement too!!!!!!!!!
Great- added! Bienvenidos.
Allegedly, the Los Angeles Facebook event is visible to the general public again. I would still refer to the Yelp link above, as it has more detailed info, but if you want to RSVP, you can do so here:
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=175411822480931
So the whole thing was just a strange Facebook bug? Well, glad they fixed it. I noticed the Chicago ride link works now. To play it safe, I’ll just keep the Yelp link for you guys.
Yeah, FB has been a little wonky with the recent updates, and this bug couldn’t have come at a worse time. All better now, thankfully. And the Yelp link is best for now because of the detail. Thanks.
Arranging it in Bergen on the brand new lightrail-line

Great– got your link up. First ride in Norway, I think!
DID IT! Let’s hope people will come in so little time :)
here’s the link to the Milano event:
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=189182067765365
Awesome! Looks like you already have 10, which is more than enough for a great ride!
Just added Portland.
What do you need to do to organize one in your city?
Confidence and the ability to read the instructions for the New York ride and copy them locally.
Sydney Australia – Now with TWO rides.
#1 = Sunday Jan 9th @ Noon (according to Calendar date)
#2 = Monday the 10th @ 8am AEDST (10th anniversary tribute – Simultaneously with NY event by timezone.)
Details = http://sydneynopantssubwayride.weebly.com/2011.html
Nothing makes you dance, like a train ride minus pants !
I would totally participate in this (Hamburg) but i cant reach the homepage?
Why do i need to be a member of the shitty facebook in order to view that damn thing?
So this is exclusively for Facebookfolks or what?
But it’s oh so simple to become a facebookfolk. And that’s where all the fun stuff is!
Hi Dude,
you don’t need facebook. You can find all informations also here:
http://flashmob-hh.de/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1037
There is no link for Pittsburgh and I was hoping to document it. what no volunteers?
Yeah, apparently you didn’t organize it.
I’m attempting to organize the Anchorage, AK mission. The facebook event page is here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=166710190039716
OK let me know if you get it off the ground.
I’m in the process of organizing a last minutte participation in Austtin, TX!. Contact me for more info @ gawdbomb@rock.com, or try the facebook link. I know it’s a late start, but at least 1 person in Austin will be participating!
Not as late as we launched our call in Antwerp :-)
Facebookevent for Antwerp (Belgium):
It is organized by the local newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen, more info @ !
St. Louis has one this year as well.
In honor of No Pants Day, ThinkGeek has created a special promotional code – $10 off orders over $50: http://bit.ly/e2TScH.
BRAZIL – SÃO PAULO \o/
The entire Johannesburg group (of about 50 people) is being held, handcuffed, in the subway holding cell for “indecent exposure”. Totally worth it.
My favorite line from a confused woman on the NYC 1 train, 1st car: “Why are they taking their clothes off? Is this prostitution?” LOL
Hellloooo world, Mexico city No pants subway ride 2011 was a success!!!, even though at first the police officers from “metro” stations were confused and tried to moved us to the last wagons, we managed to get in the cars and ride the metro (subway) getting looks and laughs from many people. lol great experience, WILL do it again next year!
Didn’t go so well in Johannesburg, South Africa. 34 people arrested and fined R350 for “an illegal gathering”.

Didn’t go so well in Johannesburg, South Africa.34 out of 150 participants were arrested and fined R350 for an “illegal meeting”. http://bit.ly/e0agiu
Wow! to try it in Johannesburg!!! I know it’s not supposed to be as bad as it was but dang! Those people have some guts.
We had a great day in Stockholm! The first warm, sunny day since long before Christmas.
+3 C (37 F) when we started, a lot colder when we finished.
52 happy participants and a somewhat intense media crew went on 17 trains, 14 stations and used all our 3 subway lines.
Photos are slowly being uploaded on our webpage.
The confused subway security in Stockholm were getting constant information on their walkie talkies about people without clothes, with the words “No need to worry, it is only art!”
towards animal life….
Here are some pics and a short video from Sydney Australia NPSR.
http://travel.nomadsnirvana.com/2011/01/10/no-pants-subway-ride-sydney
Hey does anyone know what happened in Seoul? Their Facebook event was cancelled. Did it happen?
The organizer could only get one friend to join him, so they scrapped it. Hopefully next year.
Is there a Facebook page for No Pants 2011 Seattle? Can someone please post the FB link for Seattle here..
Got it :) http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=112901408778534&index=1
Here is the Stockholm video

Can you add on the website this link for the “No Pants Day Paris” :
Paris with this link:

Thank you very much

No. No Pants Day is different from The No Pants Subway Ride.
