Here are the options for downloading the audio file.

Please note: No matter what option you use, you should download the file in advance over a fast Wi-Fi connection. Do not wait until you are at the event to attempt to download.

– Mp3 Experiment iOS App (iPhones)

In the app, click on The Mp3 Experiment Singapore event, and then click “Join Us” to download the file. After the file downloads, you will see a countdown timer. The app, if open, will play the track automatically at the right time when the timer reaches zero.

Here is a direct link to the mp3 if you are using something other than a smart phone and need the raw mp3 file. If you are using this method you will have to manually press play at 7:00:00. Make sure your phone clock or your watch is synced to atomic time. Reminder: Don’t listen to the file in advance. Spoilers!

The file is also available as a podcast for your podcast app of choice. This is also a good backup option for Android users. What to wear and bring:

Wear something comfortable and bring a water bottle and a light stick.

***Important Get the correct colour of your light stick (Glow Stick) based on the location you stay.

North Side – Red Color Light stick (Glow Stick)
West Side – Green Color Light stick (Glow Stick)

East Side – Blue Color Light stick (Glow Stick)
South & Central Side – Yellow Color Light stick (Glow Stick)

As 7:00pm approaches, blend in with the area naturally as if nothing is up, and go to your starting locations:

Starting Point A: People who live in the East and South & Central
Starting point B: People who live in the North and West
– Starting Point A is the at the School of Economics
– Starting Point B is the at the School of Business
***Remember, Starting Point A is for people who live in the East and the South & Central, and B is for people who live in the West and the North!

When 7:00:00 Approaches

If you are using our iOS or Android app, make sure you have the app open and the track will play automatically at 7:00:00. Don’t forget to download the track in advance over Wi-Fi.

If you are using another playback method, you’ll have to press play manually at 7:00:00. Make sure your phone clock or your watch is synced to atomic time so you know exactly when to press play. Group with others if you don’t know the right time.

Do not use other apps on your phone during the experiment as they could interrupt playback. When it starts, turn off the screen and put your phone away and have fun!

What if I get to the event late?

Start listening at the start time, and you’ll get there when you get there. Be careful crossing streets, etc.

What if I don’t press play at exactly the right time?

If you can tell you are significantly off, ask to look at a neighbor’s device and try to sync back up to the correct time. You’ll have more fun if you’re more in sync. Those using the app should automatically be in sync with atomic time.

Do I have to RSVP?

Nope! Just show up!

How old do you have to be?

The Mp3 Experiment is appropriate for people of all ages. If you are under 18, you should have your parent’s permission to participate. Young children should participate with their parents, obviously. Use common sense if you are participating with a young child and stay with them at all times.

Terms and conditions of participation

My Responsibilities
1. If I am below 18 years of age I will seek parental or guardian consent before participating in the event. I will also show my parent or guardian these terms and seek their consent.
2. I declare that I have no medical condition that would affect my safety and physical well being arising from my participation in this Event and I am medically and physically fit and competent to participate in the Event. It is my responsibility to have myself certified fit to participate in the event if I am unsure of my state of health. I will stop participating immediately and seek help from the nearest volunteer at any point I am feeling unwell.
3 I understand that MP3 Experiment is a mass event with a thousand participants, and will involve physical activity that may be strenuous. I also understand that the event will be in a public place where there may be strangers outside the control of the Organisers. I accept all the risks associated with this event, and I will take responsibility for reducing my own risks.

Waiver of Liability
4 I confirm that the representations, warranties and undertakings above are true and correct and I (and my heirs, successors and assigns) shall waive, release, discharge and undertake that I (and my heirs, successors and assigns) shall not make any claims or lodge any complaints whatsoever against the Organiser, Sponsors or Officials of the Event for any injury, death or losses/damages to property sustained during the Event.
5 Further I (my heirs, successors and assigns) shall indemnify and hold the Organiser, Sponsors, appointed officials/suppliers harmless from any claim, demand, proceedings, costs, expenses liabilities loss or damage (whether direct or consequential) made by third parties, arising from any injury or death or damage or loss to any property arising out of my breach of the representations, warranties and undertakings
