The IE Global group based in Prague turned a subway car into a living room this past weekend. Here’s their report and video:

- Mission: Travel first class … on the subway!
- When: April 4th, 2008, from 5pm onwards
- Where: Prague subway system (eastbound yellow line)
- Agents: 12On Friday, April 4th, the commuters on one of the trains were rather surprised when a girl has boarded a train, carrying a rug, and spread it out on the floor. Imagine their shock at the next station, where two guys brought in a large armchair, on the following stations accompanied by a coatrack, table, antique telephone, slippers, and a flower in a vase.
This was just the set-up. At Jinonice, some six stations from the start, a dressed-up man came in, put his coat and umbrella at the rack, sat down in the armchair and made himself comfortable: he loosened his tie, removed his shoes and put on the slippers, picked up a magazine and started reading.

Oh dude, that’s awesome! Makes me wish we had subways here in LA!
Damn! I was in Prague when it happend, but on the other subway line.. :(
Great.. the bad thing is that i couldn’t watch the video… seems like the video was taken down. :-(
I thought it was a great idea! I would have liked to see more reaction shots though.
yeah, i couldnt watch the vid, but it sounds awesome. If it was done in NY, would it be percieved as ‘disorderly conduct?’
i hate it when police muck it all up lol
Agent Droid: uh… LA Metro Rail?
Obviously they’ve done a great job at advertising :P
I DONT SPEAK TACO!! WHY THE FUCK ISNT THIS IN ENGLISH???!!?
Wow how creative! That was so funny! How did they get the chair on there without security stopping them? Very impressive.
You guys rock!
hah! That was great!
Had that been attempted anywhere else, it would probably be shut down instantly (like that headphone dancing…)
Great Job Prague agents!
I am quite impressed that there is a group of people in czech, who actually have good ideas and are able to perform a nice improv;-) glad to see that. good work.
and for you guys, who “don’t speak TACO” i have two advices: 1.) learn TACO, 2.) here is (an attempt for) a transcript:
prague subway - over a milion people travels by it every day. not everyone however uses it only to travel. a group of young people, calling themselves “D?ti sídlištní recese” (”the children of neighbourhood entertainment”) decided to move a part of an average living room into one of the trains. from Zlicin (station name) to the center of the city, one station by another, they were domesticating the car by a rug, table with armchair and a coatrack. (homeless guy saying: I can’t believe it!) in the end, they brought slippers and servet hot tea. the only thing missing was the landlord. … in case anybody is curious, the armchair and the table must have their own ticket on the subway.
ouch, it seems like your wordpress engine doesn’t like my czech characters;-) the name of the group should be “Deti sidlistni zabavy” - and I found a better translation on their own website http://www.desir-cz.org/page.php?id=5 “children of the suburb prank”
These projects are getting popular lately… do you remember how Ztohoven changed pictures on traffic lights, or broadcasted a fictive atomic bomb explosion on the national television? Hilarious ideas!
Awesome concept and good execution. Very nice work.

There are other cultures in the world who have just as much right to speak their language as you do English. Grow up a little.

I was wondering the same thing. Had to be a pain to get it there too.

Thanks for the link and translation.
That was well planned! Fun to watch :) Thanks for the translation PeTe
KrunkKelly & BruceWitzenburg - you can take anything you want to the subway in Prague. Only thing you have to do in case of “capacious luggage” like this is buying extra ticket for it .. armchair isn’t that much bigger than, for example, baby-coach anyway ;)
Really? That is amazing. I wonder if you can take armchairs on the subways here in the States? Thanks!
